Optical Art

This is an image I created using Photoshop.  It is an example of Optical Illusion Art! :)

Optical Illusion Project Reflection:

The type of art I created is called Optical Art, or shortly abbreviated as 'Op Art.'  Optical Art is the style of visual art that makes use of optical illusions.  Many famous works of Optical Art were designed in black and white and create an abstract image.  They give off an appearance of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibration, patterns or warping. Color is an important addition to create the different effects of Optical Illusions.

My Optical Art project includes much, vibrant colors, distortion, and slightly warped, blurred edges.  My mixed, swirled design offers a very basic example of this art style, however to fit the criteria of Optical Art, the appealing aspects of my overall image create a marginal, fooling appearance of movement.  Although, my project has no precise, detailed pattern, it shows a colorful, neat layout that supports the elements and principles of design.

To give my project a clear, vibrant optical illusion effect, I incorporated many of the design principles and elements.  The many curved, swirling, straight lines mixed variously throughout my image creates a sense of irregular, joining shapes and many wavy, blended textures.  Most creatively, my vivid, original creation offers a large variety of colors that certainly stand out and provide an appealing attraction to the entire piece.  The random streaks of bright white adds a value of lightness to darkness between the colorful, rainbow pattern of my design.  Along with my noticeable color theme, my project also includes contrast between the varying colors and combining shapes.  The circular pattern of my image forms an asymmetrical, visual weight by the balance in my art piece.  By repeating some colors, lines, and swirls, a slight, minimal movement appears through the rhythm of my design.  The unity between the many important design elements connects the visual qualities shared among the Optical Art image.

Animations

All of these animations are my own creations, constructed in Photoshop! The first is a practice animation of a ball bouncing.

This animation you see here is of three different colored balloons rising into the sky.

And the second animation is a design of a leaf falling from a tree branch!

The third and final image animation is a thermometer rising along with the bright sun.

Love Stamp

This image of the words 'Love' I first created using the paintbrush tool in Photoshop.  Saving it as a stamp, I then composed this design!

My Turtle

This is a text art image that I created based off an outlined image of a turtle.  It is the first project I ever created in my Computer Graphics class, however not using Photoshop.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

Swing Warp

This project first started out as a simple image of a swing.  After applying different techniques in Photoshop, I transformed this image into a swinging animation.  I hope you enjoy my swing warp design!

How To Make A Fruit Salad!

This is the instruction manual I created, showing the best method of making a delicious fruit salad! :)

In Photoshop, I created an instruction manual on how to make a fruit salad.  The purpose of my How To Project is to appeal to a large audience and attract people to choose a fun, healthy snack, and I think the layout of my manual persuades just that!  To begin the design of my project, I composed a big, bright green headline and liquified it slightly to capture the attention of the audience.  To hopefully achieve the goal of my instruction manual, I wanted to create a basic patterned layout that is quite easy to follow and avoids confusion.  For each step, I made a fairly equal shaped box, added simple, descriptive text and clearly marked the number beside the short steps.  To portray the necessary supplies and instructions, I incorporated many helpful, colorful pictures by the process of manipulating and feathering to accompany each step and help explain a better understanding of its content.  And, of course, I decorated much light, pleasant colors to intrigue the audience and show a sense of creativity.

In my project, there are many, different lines in the title, rectangles, texts and pictures that help define and emphasize the detail of it's layout.  The biggest example of shape in my manual is the the colored, square boxes underneath the text of each step that contribute in giving a specific order to each step.  Most of the images illustrating form are three-dimension pictures that make my ideas seem realistic and encouraging.  The warm, vibrant colors are clearly visible on my project, which easily draws the attention of curious eyes, and the clarity of my cropped images gives a smooth, wet shiny texture to the fresh fruit.  The bright, white areas around the soft edges of the of each colored, numbered box represents space that adds organization to the layout of my manual and adds interest.  There is a small appearance of value in the faded shadow of my outlined headline.  The persuasive type, or text I used to describe the positive, easy instructions of my project adds excitement to the overall product.
